Chicago Bar Project “Bite”

Simply put, Cafe Iberico offers las mejores (the best) tapas in Chicago and outside of Spain. I’ve lived in Chicago for over 14 years and, since the beginning, have been going to Cafe Iberico on a regular basis. My wife and I had our impromptu civil ceremony wedding reception here and we have witnessed its expansion into neighboring storefronts, the renovation of the entrance and the additions of both the upstairs and downstairs dining rooms. As such, Cafe Iberico has expanded more than any other Chicago restaurant we have come across, and we eat out muchisimo. When we go, we always order “the usual” for our table (usually at least eight people):

  1. Potatas bravas (spicy or better yet “angry” potatoes in a red sauce)
  2. Jamon Iberico (cured ham with manchego cheese and tomato bread)
  3. Queso de cabra (baked goat cheese with fresh tomato basil sauce)
  4. Croquetas de pollo (chicken and ham puffs served with ali-oli sauce)
  5. Pulpo a la plancha (grilled octopus with potatoes and olive oil)
  6. Mejillones a la marinera (steamed mussels with marinara sauce)
  7. Chorizo y morcilla (a combination platter of grilled Spanish style sausages)
  8. Gambas al ajillo (grilled shrimp with olive oil, garlic and wine)

In addition to their 450-seat restaurant, Cafe Iberico offers a full service Spanish deli if you care to purchase any of the ingredients you fell in love with during your meal. If you like Cafe Iberico, you may also like Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba or Emilio’s Tapas for paella, both of which are located in Lincoln Park. And, if you’re on a date, the LaSalle Flower Shop is located next door, so stop by beforehand… For more information, check out the Cafe Iberico website. ìSalud!
