Chicago Bar Project “Bite”

We’ve been going to Pars cove for the last seven years and have yet to find better Persian or Middle Eastern food in the City of Chicago, though Reza’s comes very close and Café Orchid offers the best Turkish cuisine, but let’s focus… Max Pars is the owner of the restaurant, hence the name, and his culinary skills have satisfied this city for almost 50 years, the last 30 of which have come from operating Pars Cove. Though the menu is loaded with excellent items from kebabs to lamb to shellfish, your best bet is to go with whatever Max recommends and pray that they have the Chilean sea bass in walnut & pomegranate sauce available. If you’re on a date, the Dinner for Two is the clearly the best deal in the house: you get two appetizers, lentil soup, two entrées, dessert, and two drinks or a bottle of wine for $50. The best seat in the house is under the skylight to the right of the subterranean entrance or in the street level sidewalk café in summer. Max runs the place with members of his family and the service has that warm neighborhood feel that you just can’t find in the more expensive eateries of River North and the Gold Coast.
